There is a second huge fabric store in Chicago which many people have never heard of. Those who have heard of it usually have no idea where it is or how to get there.

I went there recently and took pictures along the way.
From downtown, take the Pink Line.
The stop is Damen.
From there, walk 1/2 block south, 1 1/2 blocks west.
Almost there.
This is it.
The place is huge, 3 floors. It’s a little overwhelming.
There was a lot of polyester. I wasn’t sure I would find anything, but this remnant of yellow upholstery weight velveteen snagged me. Also picked up some variegated rattail cord.
Bonus: The Eco Rooftop (.org) is visible from the Damen El stop.
Check it on your way out.
